Matthew Wade
Matthew Wade is a director, writer, editor, composer, illustrator, and animator born in Idaho.
Heavily informed by his childhood years in the Pacific Northwest, his work has been described as “moody,” “unnerving,” and “absorbing.” Matthew studied Classical Animation in Vancouver, BC before cutting his teeth in commercial freelance in Los Angeles. He wrote, produced, edited, and directed his first feature, How the Sky Will Melt, which premiered online via NoBudge. His student film was featured in Computer Arts Magazine and went on to play at festivals and gallery shows. His other work has premiered at Slamdance Film Festival, San Francisco International Film Festival, Sun Valley Film Festival, Tacoma Film Festival, Maryland Film Festival, Alchemy Arts & Film Festival, ExGround, and dozens more around the world.
His second feature, A Black Rift Begins to Yawn, received a post-production grant from Brooklyn-based Flies Collective and had its World Premiere at the 2021 Slamdance Film Festival.
