Malik Isasis
Malik Isasis hails from Seattle, Washington, home of the richest man in the world. The son of a single mother, and absentee father, he found an escape from the crushing sameness and inner city blight of the late-80’s America through the films of Spike Lee. Inspired to become a rule-breaking filmmaker, he dedicated himself to learning the rules so that he might break them more fully and artistically.
To this end, he earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Washington instead of going to film school. Because of his scheme of becoming a rule-breaking filmmaker by not attending film school, he was forced to take a slave-job at Human Services, and Mental Health clinics around the city to repay monumental student loans, he turned his attention to screenwriting, hand-scribing his first feature-length screenplay during slow periods between clinical appointments. That script was not very good, but neither were his second, third, or fourth screenplays. Several years hence, he has finally begun to show promise of his talent as a writer, and director.
