Kennedy Kao is a filmmaker based in Toronto, who creates narrative films focusing on Asian-Canadian identity.
His short film DANICA’S MOM won the Best Student Prize at Montreal Festival du Nouveau Cinema 2020 and screened at the Canadian Film Fest in 2021. He also has experience directing music videos and comedy sketches. He currently studies at the University of Toronto.

“This was Geraldine’s first time acting and I wanted to make her feel comfortable on set. Not only that, but I wanted to take things from her personal experiences and implement them in the film. So before shooting I sat down with Geraldine and we had a long conversation about her life as a Filipino working mother.“
