Brian Rawlins
Filmmaker & 2016 Winner of WDFF’s Best Overall Film - Brian Rawlins is a writer/director who was born and raised in Dallas, Texas.
When he went to college at University of Texas at Austin he saw Aguirre, Wrath of God and RoboCop in the same day and decided he wanted to be a filmmaker.
Brian's screenplays have won the Austin Film Festival, advanced to the finals of Slam dance and the semi-finals of Shore Scripts England, Cinequest and the ABC/DISNEY Comedy Writing Fellowship. His debut as writer/ director, PENNY & PAUL, which was self-financed and shot in one day in the harsh, uncontrollable conditions of The Mojave Desert, was an Official Selection at an international Oscar qualifying festival in Ireland.
On the festival circuit in America, the film has won Best Overall Picture, Best Screenplay and been nomiated for Best Acting. Brian was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, where he also recieved his Masters in English from The University of Dallas.
